Henry Young
"...saving West Hanover Township"
-- Paxton Herald, 4-14-01

Reporter Doesn’t Understand The Situation

In case the reporter that covers West Hanover Township doesn’t know, he is being “snookered!” He is being used as a mechanism to hurt Henry Young.  Henry Young is the former Executive Editor for the daily paper, and we would hope that in view of this and in the interest of loyalty and justice, the full truth be printed in the Daily Paper about the tremendous job being done by Mr. Young in saving West Hanover Township.

-- Paxton Herald, April 14, 2001

We don't know why Henry Young, a non-resident, is so deeply interested in "saving West Hanover Township."  However, since Young is a property owner in township under Pennsylvania law he can serve on the sewer authority.  Residency is not a requirement.

Unselfish altruism isn't likely the motivating factor, so we're willing to consider other theories.

Many people don't realize a sewer authority is a very powerful entity.  To a large extent development is driven by the availability of sewers.

In the meantime we did discover an interesting connection between Annette and Henry.  It may mean nothing.  You are of course free to draw any conclusions you wish from the excerpted meeting minutes which follow:

WEST HANOVER TOWNSHIP BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
7171 ALLENTOWN BOULEVARD,
HARRISBURG, PA 17112

MONDAY, JANUARY 5, 1998
REGULAR/ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING

PUBLIC COMMENT
Donald Steinmeier, 11 N. Fairville Avenue: ... Mr. Steinmeier asked why the Board appointed someone from outside of the township to serve on the Water and Sewer Authority when interested people in our own township were denied a position. Chairman Gross stated he had no comment. Mr. Steinmeier stated that as a matter of public record, Mr. (Henry) Young shares a deed for a lot with Mrs. Antoun and only pays property taxes in the amount of 60 cents to the Township. Mr. Steinmeier called for Mr. Young's resignation.

THURSDAY, JANUARY 29, 1998, 7 P.M.
REGULAR MEETING

Bill Keane, 100 North Fairville Avenue: Mr. Keane asked Mr. Young if he is a property owner in the Township and if so when was the property purchased. Mr. Young responded that he is a property owner and the property was purchased either 1-1/2 or 2 years ago.

Mr. Keane stated the property referred to be owned by Mrs. Antoun, the publisher of The Paxton Herald, and Mr. Young's name was added to the deed on April 27, 1997. Mr. Young stated he purchased one half interest in the property.

Mr. Keane asked if he purchased half interest so that he could serve on the Authority. Mr. Young stated he knew nothing about serving on the Authority at the time.

Young's partial ownership of this plot of ground legally qualifies him to serve on the West Hanover Twp. Water & Sewer Authority.
