Editorial Integrity (in Annette's own words . . .)

. . . and a few choice ones of our own

Why Is the
Paxton Herald
Better?

whyphbetter.gif (16749 bytes)Because we give our Subscribers and Advertisers more than they can get from other media or shopper’s guides.

The overriding reason is that The Paxton Herald is definitely a COMMUNITY ADVOCATE.

First of all, our readership is primarily made up of Shoppers, people who take time to look for the best buys. These people have learned to trust the integrity of the paper that prints the "NEWS THE DAILY PAPER IS AFRAID TO PRINT." Our readers believe in what we stand for in our editorial policy and that enhances the integrity of our advertisers.

The Paxton Herald...
A Welcome House Guest

Second, there is a manner in which our readers use our newspaper. Our pages of free personal "classifieds," offering everything from children’s toys to major appliances, creates a line-for-line and page-for-page readership habit. People don’t just scan THE PAXTON HERALD, they diligently read every classified ad and these are interspersed among the news, editorial and advertising units on each page of our paper.

People carry the HERALD with them and repeatedly refer to the classifieds so that the opportunity for each reader to see your ad occurs many times. We are not the kind of paper that gets left on the bus seat or the restaurant table.

WE CARE!

Our rates are right, our editorial integrity is above reproach, and our readers know we care about them.

"The lady doth
protest too much, methinks."

- Hamlet, Act III, scene 2

We are particularly entertained by Antoun's spin on "integrity." As a value-added bonus, if you advertise with her, some of her integrity will actually rub off on you.

Advertisers might be thinking the same thing...and not in the way Annette is hoping.

Our suspicion the weekly has shrunk over the years was confirmed when a  moldering copy from 1984 surfaced with a 32 page first section.

Measured against the current average 24 page first section, Annette may wish to reconsider the contention her "editorial policy" is an inducement to advertisers.

But far be it from us to make any suggestions. Annette must know what she's doing ... apparently there has been market research yielding most remarkable results.

In Annette Antoun's alternate universe there are whole populations roaming about clutching their weekly issue of the Paxton Herald, reading it line-for-line and page-for-page.  Then reading it again.

Now there's a target market...
