Antoun's Lies

"The publisher of The Paxton Herald filed the necessary papers to have Fox Ridge declared a Historic District years ago..."

-- Annette Antoun, Sept. 11, 2002

Antoun's entire editorial.

Obviously Annette is desperately trying to remake her image from one of predatory real estate speculator into "historic preservationist."

After all, that persona would be better suited for her scheme to unload some blighted properties she owns as the location for the National Museum of African-American History.  Click here for the story on her museum scheme.

It should not come as a surprise her assertion she created the Fox Ridge Historic District is a blatant lie.  And we're not about to let the skunk change her stripes so easily.  Click here for an historical overview of Old Fox Ridge.

Of course there is the possibility she actually believes she did file the nomination form -- her grasp of reality seems more and more tenuous -- but records on file at the state's Bureau of Historic Preservation tell quite another story.

Click on the image of the Historical Significance Survey to the right and you'll see who really prepared the paperwork -- it wasn't Annette, despite her claims.  Are you surprised?

State officials have confirmed that nowhere in the application does Annette Antoun's name appear.

Of course, the Poxtongue Harridan doesn't trouble itself with accuracy and Annette knows less about historic preservation than she does ethical journalism.  Click here for another example of her rewriting history.

Although Antoun would have you believe she is a champion of historic districts, she has repeatedly ignored required historic district design review and permitting regulations.  Her excuse?  She wasn't aware of them!  This from someone claiming to have created an historic district!  Click here for her last "ignorance" excuse.

Annette never misses an opportunity to suck up to her good buddy, Mayor Stephen R. Reed.  In her editorial, she notes:

"Everything that has happened since the advent of Stephen R. Reed as Mayor points to the fact that people appreciate and DESERVE someone to advocate for them, someone to make their environment beautiful, exciting, and safe! Reed has set the wheels in motion to do all of this, and he has managed to put people in place who are innovative and hard-working."

Antoun has good reason to be grateful to Reed, especially since the Mayor's interference in the enforcement of city codes pulled Annette's rancid fat from the fire.  See: The city has withdrawn the charges.

Thanks to the city's codes enforcement office, the wheels were in motion to remove a vacant, blighted structure Antoun has owned for more than 25 years.  That is until Reed personally derailed them.  In the process he did nothing to make Fox Ridge beautiful and safe.  Instead, Reed is allowing his crony to continue to make a mockery of the city's building codes.

We would be interested in his rationale for doing so.  Should he be forthcoming, we will post his reasons on this website.  Count on it.
