"Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press ..."

-- First Amendment, Bill of Rights

"Some of the press who speak loudly about the freedom of the press are themselves the enemies of freedom.  Countless people dare not say a thing because they know it will be picked up and made a song of by the press. That limits freedom."

-- Geoffrey Fisher, Archbishop of Canterbury
Look Magazine, 17 Mar 59

We doubt the The Paxton Herald will be pleased with this website and anticipate the usual shrieks of "copyright infringement" and dire threats of legal action.  Annette Antoun has been using the same tired tricks for decades (don't miss the Harassed by the Paxton Herald section of this site for some jaw-dropping examples).

"...the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright." (emphasis added)

--- United States Code,
Title 17; Section 107

Not only are we on solid legal ground in publishing this site, we are grateful the Internet has provided a means to stand up to the bullying The Paxton Herald has been practicing for decades under the guise of journalism.  (click here to read what the Herald says about its editorial integrity).

We are also profoundly grateful for the advice and quiet encouragement from our friends in law, politics and the  media who believe First Amendment freedoms are rights to be practiced responsibly and zealously defended from abuse.

So there. Bite us.
